Maximusian Army to "modernize" their equipment in the coming weeks

The foreign policy of Libertas Omnium Maximus has historically been one of neutrality. The military interferes in foreign affairs only when necessary to protect Maximusian Interests. For the most part, this policy keeps our great nation in the good graces of many of its allies. The drawback to this is that when the Maximusian Army announces they will be updating and modernizing much of their equipment, it turns heads. This exact scenario played out yesterday afternoon. Likely in response to growing tensions in the South Xiomeran Sea, the Maximusian Army announced via press release that it will be updating and modernizing most of its equipment. They will reportedly be focusing primarily on updating small arms and the equipment used by servicemen. Vehicles and heavy weaponry will remain un-updated.

The Maximusian Army reportedly will be replacing the beloved (but outdated) MSH-81 with the newer G20 as the standard sidearm issued to all servicemen. The G20, just like the MSH-81, fires 9mm rounds. However, the G20 will have a standard ammunition capacity of 17 rounds, slightly more than the MSH-81's 15 capacity. Additionally, the G20 reportedly sports a more ergonomic grip, is easier to clean, and performs significantly better in severe conditions. The G20, unlike the MSH-81, will feature a one-slot Picatinny rail. Moving away from actual firearms, servicemen will also be happy to know that their military rations are also getting an update. According to the release "The newest type of rations, which will be issued in 2020, is far more flavourful than the former variety and will provide significantly more nourishment." The Maximusian Army reportedly enlisted the help of nutritionists, scientists and doctors from around LOM to cater to the exact needs of a serviceman. The release went on to talk about how the army will be looking into service flashlights, cots, tents, and other gear to make sure that it is the best available equipment in the coming weeks.

Invariably, this announcement has been met with both negative and positive responses. Some view it as needless fearmongering while others see it as a way to prove to the world that Libertas Omnium Maximus is not a force not to be taken lightly.
