New federal program designed to both manage deer population and feed the homeless

The Maximusian government has just unveiled an initiative to both cull deer populations and feed the homeless. The program, which was announced Thursday afternoon, is a nationwide initiative called "Hunters: for the homeless". The concept has reportedly been bounced around for years now but has only now been implemented. The basic concept behind "Hunters: for the homeless" is to encourage deer hunting nationally by having the government offer to purchase meat from hunters. This meat would, in turn, be distributed to homeless shelters all around LOM in an effort to keep the homeless fed. Deer populations, especially in suburban areas, are at an all time high and simply cannot be allowed to grow further. We needed an initiative to get people hunting. If people are guaranteed a paycheck for each buck they take down we should see more anymore. people hunting." told Casey Beck, a Department of the Interior coordinator, to Litudinem Herald during an interview yesterday. He went on to state that "the meat itself could really help a lot of people." "Homelessness is, thankfully, at an all time low as of a 2019 study. Regardless, there will always be hungry mouths to feed and this initiative is a way to combat that." said Alicia Sanders, Secretary of the Interior, during the press conference where the initiative was unveiled. Critics of the initiative have come from both sides of the isle. Many hardline conservatives find the program to be another ineffective welfare related initiative that is doomed to waste taxpayer dollars. Many liberals have expressed their displeasure in promoting more widespread weapons ownership (and invariable side effect of the program). This, many hold, will result in an increase of gun related crimes. The Maximusian Department of the Interior states on their website that the program is "effective immediately". Hunters can already begin selling their deer meat.
