In a close 17 to 13 vote, The Vox Regionum has voted in favor of the New Tax Bill, as proposed by Senator Amanda Delmarva (NC-O). This comes after the bill spent nearly 2 months on the debate floor in the Vox Regionum and Vox Populi. The bill will take effect on June 12th, substantially cutting the percentage of our citizen's salaries that must be lost to taxes.
"Our taxes were ridiculous. No-one should have to pay more than about 7% of their salary in [federal] income tax. Anything more than that is virtual highway robbery." told James Conway (PF-O), one of the bill's backers, to Litudinem Herald. "It was about time we voted this thing into law. The people of Libertas Omnium Maximus deserve this tax bill.
Critics of the bill worry that, since the bill cuts upwards of 40% of the welfare budget, many low-income families will have an even harder time and a demolished lifestyle.
